Residents recently volunteered their time to sell poppies at their local Shopko in honor of Memorial Day. The American Legion Auxiliary uses volunteers to distribute paper poppies (handmade by veterans) in exchange for donations that directly assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in communities across the country. The poppies are worn on both Memorial Day and Veterans Day to honor military service members. The seniors have been doing this for the last five years and always have a great time greeting everyone from children to old friends! Many thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary for allowing our residents to help out with such a great cause! To view pictures, please click on the web album.
