National Assisted Living Week was celebrated this year from September 9th through the 15th with the theme ‘Capture the Moment.’ Residents celebrated the week with some pretty special events and activities! Joe Sherwin from the Grant County Historical Society gave a wonderful presentation on local history and brought in memorabilia like old pocket knives, pictures and scrap books of the surrounding areas. It brought back a lot of great memories! The seniors also enjoyed a picnic outside with food from ‘The Lunch Bus,’ a traveling food cart that posts where it’s going to be for that day on Facebook. Some staff got their food from The Lunch Bus as well! Lastly, a lovely celebration was held for a couple that lives at Morningside. Richard and Mary Ann Hoffman renewed their wedding vows and a reception was held afterward with delicious refreshments and music by Roy Schroedl. Residents, staff and family members helped the couple celebrate. Special thanks to Father William for performing the ceremony! To top off Assisted Living Week, staff members were also given prizes and small gifts as a token of appreciation for their outstanding service to our seniors. It was a fantastic week overall!
